The “World Creativity & Innovation Day”

Because we celebrate the world day of creativity and innovation

The role of creativity in problem solving and innovation highlights that all countries are embracing the idea that creative capital is humanity's most valuable asset. An asset that manifests itself on several levels, both in technological and software innovations, as well as in pure research, as well as in the many manifestations of art and in the various forms of communication. All roads that, alongside the natural evolutionary processes, contribute to the development of humanity. So let's find out how it was born and why the world day of creativity and innovation is celebrated.

Why it's important to celebrate creativity and innovation

From prehistoric times to today, man has been the creator of numerous innovations. The logic of the process that generated all the mutations has always been the same: necessity. That is the fuse that lights up the light bulb of genius. We can therefore say that creativity and innovation are two consequential actions: creativity is that essential element for producing a change with respect to the current order of things and thus generates innovation.

Starting from this assumption, in a socio-economic context, such as the one we live in today, change occurs with ever increasing speed. The success factor lies not only in the ability to adapt, but above all in forecasting. Hence, creativity and innovation occupy a significant space in the contemporary world, configuring themselves as essential strategic resources. Especially in the workplace.

Challenging habits, going into unexplored territories, exploiting empathy to create new connections and curiosity to open your mind to new possibilities: this is the invitation that the UN launches us. Celebrate creativity and innovation to develop a project for sustainable development with 17 goals to be achieved by 2030.

World Creativity and Innovation Day

Thus was established the World Day of Creativity and Innovation. A day with strong international appeal recognized by the United Nations and that it is celebrated, since 2017, on April 21st of each year. Six days after the birth of Leonardo Da Vinci and one day before International Mother Earth Day.

World Creativity and Innovation Day in fact, it promotes the use of creativity to contribute to the achievement of the 17 global goals for sustainable development. These, set out inUnited Nations Agenda 2030, revolve around the so-called 5 Ps: People, Planet, Peace, Prosperity, Partnership. "Global goals" therefore means that they concern all countries and all individuals: no one is excluded from them, nor should they be left behind along the path necessary to take the world on the path of sustainability.

Therefore we can define April 21 as a time placeholder to give people a reason and an opportunity to use imagination productively, to release new thoughts, come up with innovative ideas and plans and to celebrate them.
